Thousand Words.......

This Wednesday, January 21, 2009, the Interp Club is hosting a special guest during the normal meeting (5pm in NR 106). Dr. Geoff Buckley from Ohio University's Geography Department will be presenting a talk on interpreting old photographs. Using example illustrations from his collection, this promises to be fascinating look at gaining clues and information that could be useful for interpreters and educators, as well as people interested in genealogy, history, and photography. Don't miss this one, and bring a friend!

Winter Hike at Hocking Hills

On January 17, join Naturalist Pat Quackenbush at Old Man's Cave for the 44th Annual Winter Hike to Ash Cave. Frozen waterfalls, crisp air, and warm refreshments highlight this popular event. Hikes depart from 9-11am, and most hikers are through by 2pm or so.

If you would like to help with the program, Pat always needs assistants at various stations along the trail, and Hocking students have always managed to volunteer. This is a great opportunity to build your resume, meet naturalists from around the state, and practice your public interaction skills.

On Friday evening (January 16), you can also join Pat for a organizing session and a fun pre-hike program.

For more information, contact Pat at 740-385-8003.

Happy New Year

Though the break felt incredibly short, we are "hitting the ground running" here at Hocking College. The Interp Club will be meeting starting TOMORROW in the Interp room (NR 106) to work on the mural/quilt project. Anyone (including GRADUATES..hint, hint) can contribute an idea for a quilt square to be added to the project. We are looking for graphics, quotes, designs, or other ideas that could be transferred to a quilt square. It would be great to have a multitude of ideas to choose from. SEND US SOMETHING!!

Aso, please note the new program addtions to the calendar, and feel free to submit any that you would like to be posted. I would particularly like interpretive programs or interpretive training sessions from around the region. I know there is good stuff going on out there, so let me help you spread the word.
